Hartsville child safety campaign calls for volunteers

Posted: Updated:

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - The Hartsville campaign ‘It Takes a Village' is in need of volunteers.

The campaign has received a lot of support with orders pouring in for the car decals in memory of Sophia Goyeneche-Gray.

On Tuesday, the group is expected to have about 800 orders.

While the team looks for a long term solution, Sophia's mom, Amanda, is asking for help to finish current orders. Sophia's father helped design and print the decals.

The Women's League of Hartsville and other volunteers are helping at a packing party.

The event will be held Tuesday, July 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Coker Boathouse.

Goyeneche started the campaign after losing 13-month-old Sophia to hyperthermia, when she was left in a hot car in May.
