GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Sheriff Lane Cribb's Second Annual Summer Academy was held on June 16 through June 20.

The academy accepted twenty-one Georgetown County high school students. The students learned fundamentals of the sheriff's office and were introduced to the daily duties of a sheriff's deputy. "It was a great experience for the cadets as well as the officers! We are looking forward to next year," Sheriff Lane Cribb said. They were involved in the uniform patrol division, criminal investigations, crime scene analysis, judicial services, the detention center, the 911 communications center and the special operations unit.

After completing the academy, the students participated in a graduation ceremony for the Sheriff's Summer Academy on Friday. Each cadet received a certificate of completion and a sheriff's office challenge coin.
