MBPD investigate early morning shooting

Myrtle Beach (WMBF) -  An early morning shooting in Myrtle Beach has sent a 23-year-old man to the hospital.

According to the incident report, officers were called out to a wooded area on the 900 block of Blue Street around 1:15 Tuesday morning. 

A witness told officers he heard six gunshots and said he knew where the shooter was staying. 

The suspect is listed on the report as 21-year-old Devante Jamal Simmons of Myrtle Beach.

We're working to get a hold of Simmons' mug shot from J. Reuben Long Detention Center and the charges he's now facing.

Meanwhile, the victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

    The Pawleys Island Chapel is being carefully moved across the street Friday so that repairs can be made on the building’s foundation. The church, which has been in the Pawleys Island community for about 50 years, is being lifted and moved across Myrtle Avenue between the North and South Causeways.
