FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) -

For those of who like to shop, any day is good, but that is not exactly the best way to save money.

Saturday might be the most convenient day to go grocery shopping for some because that is when they likely have the day off, but it also could be costing them more.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Wednesday is the day most stores start their discounts and promotional offers.

And when it comes to freshness, it is also a day a lot of stores receive their shipments - so the food is more fresh, said Mark Castro, a spokesperson for DealNews.com.

For clothes, experts also say Wednesdays, along with Thursdays, are when the best sales typically kick in. The same goes for shopping for clothes online, according to data from Savings.com.

As for dining out, most people do that on the weekend. But Tuesdays can have the best deals.

That is because Tuesdays are typically the slowest days for restaurants, so they're doing everything they can to drum up business and get people through the door, said Meghan Heffernan, a spokesperson for Savings.com.

As for leisure activities, like going to the movies, hitting the links or relaxing at the spa, the weekends are not when someone will get the best deals.

If one can squeeze one of those things in a weekday or weeknight, they will find a lot more discounts, Heffernan said.

Experts say that is especially true for movie theatres. Lots of the big chain theatres will offer discounted tickets and candy on some weekdays.
