GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown Police arrested the man they say robbed a gas station early Sunday morning.

Police have charged William McCray, 47, with armed robbery and robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

Police say McCray is the person recorded on surveillance cameras robbing the Kangaroo gas station on Highmarket Street in Georgetown at 2:53 a.m. on Sunday.

Georgetown Police thanked the Hemmingway Police Department and the public for assistance in the investigation.

"The assistance of the public is vital in curbing crime in our communities", Georgetown Police Chief Paul Gardner said.
