The truth about pets and dating

Posted: Updated:

Have you ever wondered the difference having a pet would make when trying to find a relationship?

Statistics collected by a survey conducted by the Match dating website show that singles are more likely to date someone who has furry companions already.

"The Truth about Pets and Dating" Surveyed 1,000 singles to help better understand the typical reactions between men and women when a pet is added to the equation.

The results of the survey are as follows:

  • Pet adoption is hot: 59 percent of singles thought dating someone who adopted rather than bought a pet made them more attractive.
  • Bark off: 66 percent of men and women would not date someone who doesn't like pets.
  • Paws turn heads: 27 percent of women find photos of a pet on a dating profile attractive.
  • Vetting it out: 70 percent of singles think their date's reaction to their animal is important.
  • Animal Attraction: 35 percent of single women have been attracted to someone more than if they were by themself because of their pet.
  • Hot dogs: 72 percent of single women think owning a dog is the best pet for a man.
  • Purse Pooches: 28 percent of single men are turned off by dogs than can fit inside a hand-bag.
  • Dog eat... Cat?: 66 percent of dog owners would date cat people while 97 percent of cat owners would date dog people.
  • Time to meet the pet: 46 percent of singles would bring their pet to a walking trail on a first date.
Having a 4 legged friend might increase your chances of attracting a 2 legged one according to the singles who participated in this survey.
