FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - More than 200 members of the South Carolina School Nutrition Association will meet in Florence to discuss school lunches.
Florence School District One is hosting the meeting Saturday, April 26, according to a press release. The group will discuss trends, choices, and serving ideas for culinary departments in local schools.
The meeting will convene at John W. Moore Middle School in Florence from 7:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Vendors will show off their wares to the school food service employees and some of the workshops will include: offer vs. serve; using spices in the (school food service) kitchen; and customer service.
Florence School District One Food Services Director Donnie Chavis said, "It's an exciting time to work in the food services. The school food service industry recognizes that it is in competition with all other culinary establishments to offer cuisine which is both inviting and nourishing for students."
