MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Florence native Reggie Sanders spent 16 seasons in the big leagues, before retiring after 2007...but he's still plenty involved in sports today, and will be taking his golf game to the Grand Strand this summer for a good cause.
Sanders and former NFL player Andre Davis are hosting the inaugural 2 Live Beyond golf tournament on June 14th at the Grande Dunes Resort Course. Over 20 former MLB and NFL players will be on hand to help raise some money for the Reggie Sanders Foundation and other national and international charities.
"I think I could make a bigger difference in the world now, to really reach out in to the community, speak with the kids," explained former NFL player Andre Davis, who is helping Sanders put on the event.
"It's all about giving back, and the cause," said Sanders. "So me, I'm all about the cause and giving back. And baseball was such a very short period of time, and I got a whole span of life after that, and so I'll get to do a lot more work after that."
The event takes place June 14th at 10:00a.m. with a shotgun start.
