Horry County has a very good public school system. It also has some of the best and brightest teachers in the state.
Each year South Carolina recognizes outstanding school teachers from across the state. This year Jennifer Ainsworth, a teacher at Socastee High School, was selected as the Horry County representative, and was one of 81 finalists statewide, to be considered for the South Carolina Teacher of the Year award. And guess what… she won.
As the Teacher of the Year, she'll receive a $25,000 cash award and a new BMW to use for one year. She will also participate in a one-year residency program at the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement (CERRA) and will serve as a statewide ambassador for the profession
Congratulations, Jennifer! Thank you for your commitment to your profession, to your kids and to your community. We can all learn from a teacher like you.
