ROCK HILL, SC (WMBF) - Make-A-Wish South Carolina will host its 2nd Annual Walk For Wishes® at Cherry Park in Rock Hill, SC.
The event opens on Saturday, April 26, at 9:00 a.m., with a 5K walk beginning at 10:00 a.m., according to a press release issued by Crystal Alifanow, communications administrator for the South Carolina chapter.
Following the walk, participants are encouraged to stay and enjoy the local entertainment.
Walk For Wishes® is a family-friendly event, recognizing local wish families and engaging supporters. It is presented by Dixieland Cruisers. Participants walking as an individual, a family or a team have helped raise funds for the South Carolina chapter by enlisting the help of sponsors who pledge a dollar amount for the participants' involvement in the walk.
"Walk For Wishes builds a strong sense of community and raises funds that are necessary to grant wishes," said Jessica Bursack of Make-A-Wish South Carolina. "We are thankful for the support received in Lancaster, York, and Chester counties and all across the state of South Carolina. We are looking forward to this event and future events that provide us the opportunity to engage and celebrate within the community."
In addition to the walk, Walk For Wishes® will offer many attractions for the whole family including a silent auction, music and snacks. Children will be able to take part in an assortment of activities from balloon animals to face painting to glitter tattoos and will be entertained by Peanut Butter & Jelly & Their Magic Tricks, along with Pickles Da Clown. Star Wars Storm Troopers will also be on-site for photo opportunities.
Those who would like to participate can register in-person on walk day. Registration is $15 for individuals or $10 per walker for a Team/Family. Children ages 12 and under walk free.
