Autism seminar set for May 2 in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - A free seminar designed for families and professionals who work with children and adults with autism, is set for Friday, May 2.

According to a press release, the seminar, Autism & You, will be held at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.The event begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. The program will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.

Dr. Cindy Schneider, Medical Director of The Center for Autism Research Center, will speak at the event. She will be joined by Marcella Ridley, founder of Winston's Wish Foundation and co-author of Ryan's Law. In addition, other speakers and representatives from NextStep, the S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, and the S.C. Interventionists will take the stage.

All events will take place in the GMH Education Center behind the hospital, which is located at 606 Black River Road.

Lunch will be provided for those in attendance.
