Multi-car crash blocks Highway 501 in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A multi-car crash on Highway 501 at Carolina Bays Overpass caused traffic to stand still in the northbound lanes of Highway 501 for more than an hour on Monday night.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol's website, a crash occurred around 9:53 p.m. Four vehicles were involved.

The driver of the first vehicle lost control when a tire came loose. The vehicle struck another vehicle. The car then hit the wall and hit another vehicle, causing a domino effect. The third vehicle involved, hit another vehicle, according to Trooper Judd Jones.

Minor injuries were reported from the driver of the first vehicle.

All lanes have since reopened.
