3 crashes cause traffic to stand still in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Three vehicle crashes caused bumper-to-bumper traffic on major area roads in the Grand Strand area Friday afternoon.

On Highway 501, about three miles south of the Highway 544 Overpass and just north of Highway 31-Carolina Bays Parkway, traffic was congested.

It was also stacked in the northbound lanes of Highway 17 a couple miles south of Highway 544, and in the eastbound lanes of Highway 544.

In addition to those crashes, an influx of holiday traffic served as a reason for delays.
