MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Grand Strand chapter of the Honor Flight Network will be flying veterans to the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. for the last time Wednesday.

A total of 149 people, including 76 veterans, will fly to Washington D.C. for free on Wednesday, April 16 to tour the WWII Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and other historic landmarks.

The Honor Flight Grand Strand board is retiring, and no one has stepped up to keep the foundation's local chapter going, said Walter Kollet with the organization.

Kollet says this final flight includes veterans not just from Horry and Georgetown counties, but also North Carolina.
