Rick Santorum makes political stops in SC

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, who finished third in the South Carolina Republican presidential primary in 2012, is back in the state for some political events.

Santorum told reporters at The Citadel in Charleston on Monday that foreign affairs will be a key issue in the 2016 election. He says America is showing weakness to Russia in the Ukraine and that it was a Democrat - Bill Clinton - who said America would protect the Ukraine's territorial integrity.

Santorum has two sons at The Citadel and says he will return to the state often. But he says it will be next year before he decides whether to make another presidential run.

Santorum says he does not anticipate getting involved in either GOP primary for U.S. Senate in South Carolina.
