FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Nearly 20 violations were noted during a traffic safety checkpoint conducted Friday on Highway 9 in Nichols in Florence County, officials stated.
The location of the 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network Traffic Safety Checkpoint was on Highway 9 between Waccamaw Street and Pee Dee Street, and was chosen based in part on complaints of speeding, and alcohol-related traffic stops in the area, according to Captain Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Department.
Officers encountered 670 vehicles while operating the checkpoint from 2:45 p.m. to 5:25 p.m. Friday. The following violations were noted:
Open Container - 3
Child Restraint Violation - 1
Driver's License Violation - 3
Driving Under Suspension - 3
Operating Without Insurance - 1
Vehicle License Violations - 3
Possession of Marijuana - 4
Littering – 1
More operations may be conducted by the 12th Circuit LEN in Florence and Marion counties throughout April.
