DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – Chase Elliott took the checkered flag on Friday night at Darlington Raceway at the VFW/SportClips Help a Hero 200.
Elliott is the son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Bill Elliott. Chase is the youngest Nationwide winner at Darlington Raceway, and also the youngest NASCAR driver to win two Nationwide races in a season (18 years, 4 months, 14 days). He's still a senior in high school, and said he skipped his prom this weekend to participate in the race. It is his second career victory in the Nationwide Series, and second in a row.
Elliott Sadler finished second, and Matt Kenseth took third.
Forty racers took to The Lady in Black for the seventh stop on the Nationwide Series this season. The flag will go up for the Bojangles' Southern 500 at 6:30 on Saturday night.
