Safety driving program for teens comes to Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Several law enforcement agencies are joining together to promote safe driving tips for young, new drivers.

Horry County Police, Myrtle Beach Police, South Carolina Highway Patrol, Surfside Police, Horry County Sheriff and Conway Police departments are hosting the Drive -N- Live Safe Driving Program.

The inaugural event will be held Saturday, April 26 at NASCAR SpeedPark.

The event invites teens throughout Horry County to attend free event in a safe and fun environment while learning about the dangers of texting while driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Students will wear "drunk" goggles while driving go-karts on the obstacle course at the speed park. Another obstacle course will let the students attempt to send a text message while driving a go-kart.

The ages for the program are geared for 14-18 years old Hory County students or 8th through 12th grades.
