Power outage affects about 3,500 in Carolina Forest

CAROLINA FOREST, SC (WMBF) – A Santee Cooper Electric outage affected roughly 3,500 customers in the Carolina Forest area Wednesday at about noon, according to online information from the company.

At its peak, 3,463 customers near Highway 501 in Carolina Forest were without power; the outage started at about 11:43 a.m., according to Santee Cooper's online outage map.

The outage was due to a piece of equipment failing at a substation in the area, according to Nicole Aiello with Santee Cooper. Power was fully resorted by about 12:15 p.m.
