Barefoot Landing hosts new festival

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Barefoot Landing is hosting a new event to help pets get adopted.

The Paddle for the Pets Waterway Extravaganza is an all-day festival beginning at noon Saturday, April 5.

The event will benefit the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.

Food, entertainment, kids' activities and boat building will all be a part of the event.

Teams of four to eight people will start at 9:00 a.m. to build their own boats of various materials to compete in a race on the Intracoastal Waterway later in the day.

Several restaurants will have food for sale, and there will be a petting zoo, dunking booth, corn hole, and a Furry Fashion Show featuring many of the homeless dogs at the North Myrtle Beach shelter.

A boat parade, followed by an awards ceremony begins at 5 p.m.
