Bennettsville body shop lost to a fire

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A Bennettsville auto body shop has burned.

Driggers Body Shop suffered a total loss from a fire, Bennettsville Fire Chief Dixon Odom confirmed.

The fire started around 5:15 p.m. inside the body shop when mechanics were welding.

Clio Rural, Wallace Fire Department and McColl Fire Department assisted Bennettsville fire crews in the blaze.

Chief Odom says it took about 50 firefighters to get the fire under control.

By 6:30 p.m., the fire was under control.

Two cars were inside and are both a total loss, as well.

Chief tells WMBF News Driggers Body Shop has been in Bennettsville for more than 50 years.
