MULLINS, SC (WMBF) - Fire crews in Mullins and Marion were busy fighting fires after brush fires ignited in both areas.

According to Mullins Fire Rescue crews, the brush fire on Mack Arthur Road is out.

The burning of yard debris was the cause of the brush fire, according to Mullins Fire Chief Robert Stetson.

Marion City Fire, Marion Rural Fire crews and the South Carolina Forestry Commission all assisted in containing the fire.

The fire on Conner Road is 100 percent contained, according to Marion City Fire Engineer Jimmy Collins.

Chief Stetson asks citizens to call the SC Forestry Commission at 1-800-705-8614, before burning. This alerts local fire departments of the burnings in the area.  He also encourages having a garden hose nearby when burning and asks to never leave the fire unattended.
