MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Dunes Golf and Beach Club is looking for about 300 more volunteers to work at the PGA Professional National Championship June 19 to 25.
The club has already signed up over 300 volunteers, and the goal is to have 600 volunteers covering some 1,400 shifts over the two practice days and the four days of the tournament.
According to a news release from The Dunes, volunteers will be involved in all facets of preparation and execution of the event, including caddie registration, leaderboards, golf course signage, walking scorers, marshals, and other duties.
"We are thrilled with the interest shown by the community in pitching in and making this event a huge success," said Dennis Nicholl, PGA head golf professional at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. "We are over half way there with the volunteer registrations and looking forward to welcoming a few hundred more volunteers into the fold in the coming weeks."
A volunteer package costs $25 and includes a hat and golf shirt uniform, access to the championship grounds for the week, and lunch each day. Volunteers who sign up for three or more shifts will be a free transferable round of golf.
