Darlington officials identify victim, suspect in deadly shooting

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A 58-year-old woman is dead and a 67-year-old man is in custody after a fatal shooting just outside of Hartsville Monday afternoon, officials stated.

Patsy Ann Jackson, 58, of Mimosa Drive, Hartsville died in the shooting, which is being ruled a homicide, stated Darlington County Coroner J Todd Hardee. 

Maxie Jackson, 67, was arrested without incident at the scene and is awaiting charges for murder, according to Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd. 

The shooting happened on the 1200 block of Mimosa Drive. The sheriff's office was notified around 2:50 p.m.

Crime scene units are processing the scene there. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Newberry.
