MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - If there's one good thing about the tourist season in the Grand Strand, it's the fact that there are more jobs available.
Everything from wait staff at beach bars to some local grocery stores, WMBF News' Theo Hayes found a slew of jobs local companies are hiring.
You could try your luck at pounding the pavement, but the folks over at the Goodwill Job Search Center say your best bet is to go online and start applying. Theo Hayes found dozens of jobs, but most require an online application, such as Food Lion, Tanger Outlets, Lowe's, and the new Walmart Neighborhood Market being built in Surfside Beach.
There are a number of career fairs in the near future. On Wednesday for example, more than 15 employers are partnering for a job fair at the Boys and Girls Club in Lake City.
Job fairs are a great way to meet employers face to face, and if you apply, experts say put your best foot forward, because a seasonal job could become permanent.
"A lot of business are hiring this time of year in preparation for the tourist season, which typically means that a seasonal job, but many of those can become a full-time long-term job for the right person in the right place at the right time," says Rick Shelley of V.P. Mission Services.
