CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Saturday marked the completion of a $6,000 renovation one local businesses had to go through after January's winter storm wreaked havoc on The Learning Station daycare in Conway.
Due to the extreme water damage to the building and busted pipes this past winter, more than 160 students had to find a new daycare facility. In addition to the fallen ceiling and burst pies, the owner says there was about four inches of water on the floor.
After eight weeks of repair, the Learning Station reopened Saturday. Since the space had to be gutted from top to bottom, almost everything inside is new
"Well since the pipes broke in three corners of the building in the ceiling, we actually had to tear out the ceilings walls and floors," said Donna Jenson with The Learning Center. "So pretty much everything was down to two by fours and gutted and rebuilt."
While the school was undergoing renovations, teachers at The Learning Station underwent more training, and the school now offers Spanish to its students.
