CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina University is hosting a viewing party Friday night for the men's basketball team's NCAA tournament game against Virginia.

The party will begin at 9 p.m. at the Hicks Dining Hall, and is open to public students, faculty and staff. Food will be provided.

The No. 16 seed CCU Chanticleers and scheduled to tip-off against the No. 1 seed Virginia Cavaliers at 9:25 p.m. Friday night in Raleigh, North Carolina.

WMBF Sports reporters Joe Murano and Damon Cutno were in Raleigh Thursday and Friday as the Chants practiced for their "Big Dance" with the Cavs. Read and watch their reports here: http://www.wmbfnews.com/story/25033904/one-day-away-ccu-continues-tourney-prep

This is the first NCAA Tournament appearance for the CCU men's basketball team since 1993. A No. 16 has never beaten a No. 1 seed in the history of the NCAA Tournament, but many sports experts are saying there is a possibility that CCU could be the team to do it.

Coastal Carolina head coach Cliff Ellis won his first conference tournament title and became the tenth head coach in NCAA history to bring four different teams to the NCAA tournament. He also made it to the tournament with South Alabama, Clemson and Auburn.

CCU is 21-12 overall on the year, and won the Big South South Division. The team has won 12 of its last 15 games.

Stay tuned to WMBF News this evening for live reports from Raleigh.
