Former Carolinas Hospital nurse arrested

Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A Florence nurse is facing serious charges after investigators said she stole prescription medication she claimed was for her patients.

According to the arrest warrants, 45-year-old Lorrie Ulmer was a registered nurse for Carolinas Hospital System when she was caught stealing Oxycodone. That paperwork shows she falsified a report that's required to be kept about the drug, writing the medication was given to a patient when in fact is was kept for her personal use.

WMBF News reached out to Carolinas Hospital Systems for comment about the arrest and was given this statement:

"The hospital is aware that a former employee has been arrested. The individual is no longer working at the hospital. This matter is being taken very seriously and the hospital is cooperating with authorities. Because this matter remains under investigation by law enforcement, the hospital has no additional information to provide."

Ulmer is out on bond and is facing three charges in relation to violating drug distribution laws.
