CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina University students and staff gathered outside the HTC Center Wednesday at noon to send off the CCU men's basketball team as they head to Raleigh to face Virginia in the NCAA tournament.

The Chants were selected as a number-16 seed on Sunday, and will face the number-one seeded Virginia Cavaliers in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Friday at 9 p.m.

The team will be listening to songs that have the word in the "dance" in them on their way to The Big Dance with the top-ranked team in their first tournament appearance in 21 years.

Leaders with the university have decided to put together a viewing party at Hicks Dining Hall Friday night at 9:00 p.m. for the game. According to Tyger Glauser, who is in charge of Student Activities and Leadership with the school, the event is free to the public to also attend.

"Of course this is a huge deal for us, because this is the first time going to the NCAA tournament since 1993. So we definitely wanted to make a big deal out of it. And get as many students to watch the game as possible," explained Glauser.

She also adds tickets are going fast through the school's athletic department. "I heard that the lower level tickets are $86, but you get in for two games. And the upper level tickets are about $66 and those are also for two games."

The school will not be providing bus transportation up to Raleigh for the game for fans; according to Glauser, they'll be encouraging people to carpool with one another.
