SCHP: Driver killed after car hits tree off I-95 near Dillon

DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Florence woman was killed Sunday afternoon after driving off Interstate 95 and hitting a tree near Dillon, according to South Carolina Highway Trooper Hannah Wimberly.

The victim was identified as 47-year-old Charlene Perry from Florence, said Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley, who said she died as a result of injuries in car crash.

Perry was driving north on I-95 near mile marker 183 when the car went off the left side of the road and hit a tree, Wimberly said. Perry, who was the only occupant, was killed.

Perry was not wearing a seatbelt, Wimberly said.
