MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A driver has been taken to the hospital after wrecking a dirt bike during a police pursuit through Market Common Friday afternoon.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the chase started in front of the Myrtle Beach State Park around 5:30 p.m. The driver of a dirt bike was weaving in and out of traffic without signaling, and a trooper activated blue lights to pull him over.

The driver ran off on foot and into a pond where a highway patrolman arrested him. He was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. He is charged with failure to stop for blue lights, driving under suspension, failure to surrender driver's license, no motorcycle endorsements, and reckless driving.
