HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Due to a weather warning, Horry County will be placing a burn ban for all unincorporated areas of Horry County on Thursday, March 13.
Horry County Fire Rescue says that burn ban will be in effect from 8 a.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. on Saturday.
The ban was prompted by a Special Weather Statement from the National Weather Service that reads, "Increased fire danger Thursday for northeast South Carolina. Gusty west to northwest winds developing Thursday in the wake of a strong cold front combined with a significant decrease in relative humidity will result in an increased fire danger across the area."
According to the National Weather Service, those conditions are expected in Marlboro, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion, Williamsburg, Horry and Georgetown counties.
Robeson and Scotland counties in North Carolina are also under a Fire Weather Watch for Thursday.
Outdoor burning during a burn ban is illegal.
