MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The registration period for the third annual Myrtle Beach Never Forgets Memorial Golf Outing has opened. It's a four day event from May 18 to May 21 to honor firefighters.
Firefighters who wish to participate can play golf at a discounted rate each day at top Myrtle Beach area courses, and also enjoy oceanfront accommodations and social events hosted by the Springmaid Resort.
"The festivities finish with the "Main Event," a team best-ball tournament with long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, followed by an oceanfront "Beach Bash" featuring the popular belly-flop contest and steaks and chicken grilled by members of the Charleston (SC) Fire Department with all the trimmings and beverages," a news release read.
This event raises money for the Firefighters Cancer Support Network, an organization providing assistance to firefighters and their family members dealing with cancer.
"It's a good time. We have firefighters come from all over the country," said Nick Giordano, a former NY firefighter who helps organize the event. "We get together to share some good times and remember some of the firefighters we've known throughout our career."
You can find registration forms, golf reservations and other event information at www.myrtlebeachneverforgets.com or by calling 877-411-3369. You don't have to play golf to participate.
