HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A job fair in the Inlet Square Mall was a great success, according to a spokeswoman for Goodwill Industries of South Carolina.
A dozen people were hired on the spot, Rebecca Collett said. There were 21 companies present at the job fair on March 13.
A total of 235 people registered to apply for 261 possible jobs. The companies took in 251 applications.
Palmetto Goodwill hosted the job fair along with the Georgetown County and Myrtle Beach Area Chambers of Commerce .
SC Works provided free on-site workshops assisting job seekers with resume building, interview skills and dressing for success. An interview area will be available on-site.
"Goodwill's mission is to help people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work," said Rick Shelley, vice president of work force development for Palmetto Goodwill. "Bringing job seekers in contact with area employers helps us to further achieve that mission."
