Seabrook man arrested for drug violations after traffic stop in Georgetown Co.

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – A 30-year-old Seabrook man was arrested for drug violations after a traffic stop in Georgetown County where deputies found about 100 grams of marijuana and a substance that is believed to be cocaine.

Georgetown County Sheriff's Office deputies initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle Sunday at about 7:30 p.m. While speaking with the driver, Calvin Leonard Polite, deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana, according to a GCSO news release.

A search revealed five bags containing almost 100 grams of marijuana, a small baggie with 1.8 grams of what is believed to be cocaine, several white pills, and a scale.

Polite was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, and Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic. He was taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing, officials stated.
