Keep Horry County Beautiful Committee to hold cleanup events throughout March

CONWAY SC, (WMBF) – The Keep Horry County Beautiful Committee will be holding a community cleanup event on March 15, beginning at 9 a.m., at the South Strand Recreation Center, located at 9650 Scipio Lane in Myrtle Beach.

Volunteers will be transported to clean up litter along community roads, such as McDowell Shortcut Rd., Bay Rd., and Holmestown Rd.

The Keep Horry County Beautiful Committee will be assisting with gloves, safety vests and garbage bags. Cleanup supplies will be provided, however volunteers are encouraged to wear close-toe-shoes and comfortable clothing. Volunteers can also bring bug spray or sunscreen, if they choose to do so.

Upcoming events:

On March 22, at 10 a.m., The keep Horry County Beautiful Committee will assist the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge in a cleanup of an illegal dumpsite. The dumpsite is located at the Cox Ferry Recreation area off of Jackson Bluff Rd. in Conway.

On March 29, the Carolina Forest Civic Association will holding their spring cleanup. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Carolina Forest Recreation Center, located at 2254 Forest Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.

    The Pawleys Island Chapel is being carefully moved across the street Friday so that repairs can be made on the building’s foundation. The church, which has been in the Pawleys Island community for about 50 years, is being lifted and moved across Myrtle Avenue between the North and South Causeways.
