SCDPS: 5 killed on South Carolina roadways over the weekend

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Five people were killed on South Carolina roadways over the weekend according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.

As of March 2, 112 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to the 117 highway deaths during the same time period in 2013. Eight of those deaths occurred in Horry County in 2014, 1 in Darlington County, 1 in Dillon County, and 3 in Florence County.

Of the 90 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2014, 49 people were not wearing seatbelts, according to a news release from SCDPS.
