Round One to USC: Gamecocks come back against Tigers

COLUMBIA, SC - Grayson Greiner's grand slam helped key the way for the Gamecock baseball team, which powered past Clemson 9-6 in the opening game of the three-game series between the two rivals on Friday night.

Greiner went 3-4 with a run scored and five runs driven in in the win.

South Carolina opened the game with a 1-0 lead on a Kyle Martin single, but Clemson responded by scoring six unanswered in the second, fourth and fifth. Murrells Inlet native and St. James product Tanner English also added a solo homer for the Gamecocks.

The two teams play again on Saturday at 2:00 at Fluor Field in Greenville, and close the series on Sunday at Clemson at 4:00.
