'K-9 Kane' is the newest member of the Horry County Sheriff's Office

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – The Horry County Sheriff's Office announced a new member of the "Sheriff's Office family" on Friday: K-9 Kane.

The 27-month-old Sable German Shepherd is a certified narcotic detection K-9 which will primarily be working in Horry County Detention Center, as well as home detention searches and vehicle check points, according to sheriff's officials.

K-9 Kane is partnered with Deputy Kenneth Martinelli, and both have completed a 120-hour narcotic certification from Enforcement K9 in Wilmington, NC. K-9 Kane is the first K-9 for the Horry County Sheriff's Office after the program was approved in April 2013. Deputy Martinelli has been with the sheriff's office since 2005.
