MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Free parking at the parking meters in the Myrtle Beach area is about to come to an end.
On March 1, the meters go into effect and it really marks the start of the parking season in the areas between 31st Avenue North to 29th Avenue South, 69th Avenue North to 77th Avenue North, and 52nd and 53rd Avenue North street ends.
The city is adding more meters with the credit card option this year so you and tourists don't have to worry with loose change.
These meters can range from $1 to $1.50, depending on how popular the spot is. But if you forget to pay, don't worry. Even though they start charging on Saturday, the city says they will start slow when it comes to enforcement.
They will give warning tickets the first couple of days. The meters are in effect from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m.
