MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Attention humans – robots are invading Myrtle Beach!

The 11th Annual Palmetto Regional FIRST Robotics Competition kicks off Thursday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, bringing students from dozens of high schools around the U.S., Canada and Brazil together for a high-tech, three-day competition.

Professionals and young people work together and put their engineering, programming and problem-solving skills to the test with several different robotics competitions.

"The competitions are high-tech spectator sporting events, the result of lots of focused brainstorming, real-world teamwork, dedicated mentoring, project timelines, and deadlines," organizers for the competition state.

Set-up and practice rounds will be held throughout the day on Thursday, with competition round on Friday and Saturday.
