HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – If you were one of the roughly 1,000 Horry County Electric Cooperative customers who lost power Wednesday afternoon, you may briefly lose power again Thursday as crews work on a permanent fix to the problem.
Over 1,000 Horry Electric Cooperative customers lost power Wednesday afternoon after the Midway Substation went out, company representatives stated. As of 1:28 p.m., Horry Electric listed four outages affecting 1,081 customers in an area northeast of Aynor.
According to the company, a metering package was blown. Engineers were going to try to backfeed from another source, a temporary fix that ended the outages in the area.
On Thursday, crews were working to make a permanent fix to the equipment failure problems at the Midway Substation, according to an update from Horry Electric Co-op. Impacted members were contacted Wednesday night to make them aware of a few small outages Thursday. The outages will range from small blinks to about 30 minutes long, and will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday.
