Annual job fair to offer more opportunities

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Normally, you go to the mall to spend your bucks, but on Thursday, you'll be able to go to the Myrtle Beach Mall for a chance to earn money with the opportunity for a new job.

Hosted by Palmetto Goodwill, the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Myrtle Beach Mall, it's an opportunity for nearly forty businesses to recruit locals looking for jobs.

In 2013, thirty businesses accepted more than 900 applications for opportunities that ranged from seasonal to full-time work.

"Last year, 17 jobs were filled on the day of the job fair, and many others were scheduled for second interviews or interviews to follow," says Palmetto Goodwill VP of Mission Services Rick Shelley.  He says he expects to see larger numbers this year.

The fair lasts from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., but if you show up early, you'll have a chance to jump in on free workshops, including an opportunity for resume review.

"They're gonna be talking about dress for success and interviewing skills. Some of the stores within the mall have agreed to bring in mannequin and demonstrations for how to dress for interviews," says Shelley.

The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce shares a list of businesses registered for the job fair:
