At least a dozen "Truthful Tuesday" protestors gathered on the steps of the State House Tuesday to tell lawmakers how the lives and health of South Carolinians are in jeopardy because Gov. Nikki Haley opted not to accept the Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act.
The protestors, who are from the South Carolina Progressive Network, took their message straight to the steps of the Senate.
South Carolina is one of 23 states that has chosen not to expand Medicaid to roughly 250,000 people living below the poverty line.
Some senators simply passed them by while others opted to speak with the group.
A bill in the Senate which seeks to nullify the Affordable Care Act is stalled amid concerns it's simply unconstitutional.
