Coastal SC Chapter of Red Cross needs volunteers

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The American Red Cross is hosting a New Volunteer Orientation for community member interested in being trained to respond to the needs of those individuals devastated by disasters, such as fires and floods. The orientation will be held at the Red Cross Chapter House at 104 Screven Street Wednesday, February 26 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Coastal SC Chapter is part of the Palmetto SC Region which on average responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. "Last month alone our chapter responded to 24 local disasters and assisted 66 people devastated by these disasters," said Nanci Conley, executive director, American Red Cross Coastal SC Chapter. "We couldn't do this without our dedicated volunteers who make up 93 percent of our workforce."

To register for the New Volunteer Orientation, visit www.redcross.org/CoastalSC and click on volunteer. For more information call 843.546.5422. Office volunteers and community event volunteers are also needed.
