New Tire Recycling Center opening in the Myrtle Beach area

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – East Coast Rubber Manufacturing Company, which is a division of Tire Town Inc., will be holding an open house and grand opening ceremony for a new tire recycling center on February 26.

This will be the first Oliver Rubber Retreading plant in South Carolina. The facility is located at 764 Commerce St., and the ceremony will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the official ribbon cutting at 11 a.m.

"It is the only true way of recycling a worn-out tire," said Chris King, general manager of Tire Town. "Prior to our plant, these types of products were being imported to our state from North Carolina or Georgia."

The 12,000 square-foot facility initially will employ five workers. King states that by its third year of operation, the workforce will grow to 15 or 20; and in year five, that number is expected to reach 25 to 30.
