Heather Elvis supporters turn out for Moorer's hearing

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Support for missing 20-year-old Heather Elvis has spanned across countries and states with the "Find Heather Elvis" Facebook page, and on Monday some of those online supporters showed up for the Moorer's bond hearing.

A crowd of people entered in to J. Reuben Long Detention Center to for the bond hearing of Tammy and Sidney Moorer, the married couple facing kidnapping charges for Heather's disappearance.

During the bond hearing the Moorer's were also charged with murdering Heather.

After the hearing let out a flood of people left the detention center, many of those people were in tears and hugging one another as they left.

Mike Shelton has been following the case for months. He said he wanted to attend the bond hearing to show his support to the Elvis family. Outside he was breaking down in tears as he spoke, "this little girl that's been taken from her family before the Christmas holiday...and now they've been charged with murder of this child? It just breaks my heart."

Shelton said he doesn't know the Elvis family directly, but he has attended vigils for Heather in the past.

Jennifer Garrett was also in attendance at Monday's hearing. She said she was holding out hope for Heather, but now is at least pleased with the murder charge against the Moorer's. She explained it was pleasing to her to have some kind of closure in the case. "We will be here for the Elvis family every step of the way."

The body of Heather Elvis still hasn't been found. I future bond hearing for the Moorer's will be held sometime in March.

Summer hasn't even technically started, yet the summer-like heat and humidity will continue to reach uncomfortable levels the next few days. We start off this morning with mugginess in the air. High temperatures reach near 87 along the Grand Strand but easily make it into the low 90s inland. The heat index will feel like 95 to 100 along the coast, but more like 102 to 105 inland.
