NMB library's free youth services events for March

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The North Myrtle Beach Library offers a wide variety of youth services events for the month of March. They are free, open to the public, and are proudly sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

The North Myrtle Beach Library is located at 910 1st Avenue South, North Myrtle Beach. The library's main phone number is (843) 915-5281.

March events include:

Mother Goose on the Loose Baby Lapsit Story Time: Thursdays at 10:30am. This story time promotes early literacy through stories, nursery rhymes, songs, dancing, and more! This story time is ideal for children birth through 18 months.

Toddler Express Story Time: Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. This story time promotes phonological awareness through stories, songs, hands-on activities, crafts, and more! It is designed for children ages 18 months to 3 years.

Little Mateys Preschool Story Time: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Drop in for stories, song, crafts, dancing, and more! This story hour is perfect for children 4 to 6 years old.

Read 14 in 2014 TEEN Reading Challenge: All year long Teens, read 14 Young Adult Novels in 2014 and win 14 prizes! Pick up your entry form today in the NMBL Teen Lounge. Forms are due by December 1, 2014.

Children's Movie Matinee: Saturday, March 8 at 12 p.m. Join Ms. Margaret for the birthday celebration of a famous children's author. They will watch a movie and create related crafts! Children and families of all ages are welcome.

Teen Tech Week Movie Night: Tuesday, March 11 at 4:30 p.m. Teens, join Ms. Lauren in the Meeting Room for a movie night featuring a new, "futuristic" movie in celebration of Teen Tech Week March 9-March 15. Snacks will be provided.

Home School Lunch Bunch: Wednesday, March 12 at 12 p.m. You bring a brown bag lunch, and we'll provide the space! Come by and network with other home schooled families. This informal meet up is for all ages.

Teen Tech Week Craft Day: Thursday, March 13 at 4:30 p.m. Teens, join Ms. Lauren in the Teen Lounge for an afternoon of Technology-Inspired Crafts. Snacks will be provided.

Story Time for ALL AGES featuring special guest Splash, Mascot of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans: Wednesday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m. Join us in the Children's Room for a special baseball-themed story time featuring Splash of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans!

Teen Movie Release Party: Thursday, March 20 at 4:30 p.m. Teens, come out for a special party celebrating the release of a new movie based on a popular young adult novel. Games, trivia, crafts, and snacks will be available.

"Home Is Where the Start Is: Family Teamwork for Child Success" by Jim R. Rogers: Saturday, March 22 at 11:00am. Author Jim R. Rogers will be on-site conducting a special presentation about families working together to raise children successfully. Parents, grandparents, step-parents, and all care-givers are invited to attend.

After School Lego Block Party: Thursday, March 27 at 4 p.m. Join us in the Children's Room the last Thursday of every month for our Lego Block Party!

    A threat was discovered written on a bathroom wall at Conway High School, according to a post on the school’s Facebook page. The threat was “a derogatory statement about a teacher,” and was investigated by school officials and law enforcement.

    TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – A death investigation is underway in Florence County after a woman’s body was found on the side of the road, according to Chief Deputy Glenn Kirby with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. The woman’s body was found on U.S. 76 between Chaney Grove Road and Tolson Road in Timmonsville. The coroner is currently on scene and investigating along with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
