Prudential Spirit of Community Award goes to Forestbrook student

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Award will be awarded to Forestbrook Middle School's Isabella Hixenbaugh as South Carolina's top Middle Level youth volunteer. 

Isabella will receive an engraved Prudential Spirit of Community silver medallion, a cash prize of $1,000, and all expenses paid trip to Washington DC. The young 8th grader will also be presented with the President's Volunteer Service Award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities.

Hixenbaugh has been a volunteer for the Fidelis Foundation of Myrtle Beach every week since it was founded in 2010. The Fidelis Foundation works with six agencies to facilitate emotional healing for children in crisis due to trauma, neglect, or abuse through equine assisted learning.
