Local businesses hiring now for busy summer months

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - As the weather heats up, so do businesses across the Grand Strand, ready to hire for the summer months.  Monday, Ocean Lakes Family Campground opened their doors to prospective employees, hopeful they'll fill hundreds of available jobs.

The Myrtle Beach Campground on a peak weekend, hosts as many as 30,000 visitors.

VP of Human Relations Ron Welchel says available jobs run the gamut.

"Anything from front office positions, dealing with the customers, to golf car attendants, to security guards, lifeguards, recreation attendants, you name it, we've got the full gamut for running the campground," he says.

There are more than 200 available positions, some can even segue into higher-paid or full-time jobs.

"Probably 98 percent of our regular full-time work force started as a seasonal teammate," says Welchel.

If you missed the job fair, you can head to the Kings Highway Campground in person, or just apply online.

All in all, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is expecting 1.5 million first-time visitors, so with the anticipation of record-breaking numbers, businesses need more hands on deck.  The Ocean Lakes job fair each year brings about 400 applicants each year and isn't the only Grand Strand location looking for employees.

On Wednesday, Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures will accept applications to fill up to 30 jobs.  At the end of the month, Goodwill, the North Myrtle Beach Chamber and the Myrtle Beach Mall will host a job fair as well.

Some job fairs have passed, but positions are still available. The NASCAR Speedpark hosted a job fair Saturday for more than 75 positions. They had over 250 applicants show up, but say if you missed the job fair, you can apply online. Tanger Outlets held a job fair as well, and continues to post listings on their website year-round.
